Marta Portero Tresserra  is a Associate Lecturer of the Department of Psychobiology and Methodology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She graduated in Psychology at UAB in 2009. In 2010 she carried out a Master in Neuroscience and in 2013 she obtained a Ph.D in Neuroscience (Cum Laude) at the same university. She has conducted studies as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona, at the Utrecht University and at the Universidad de la Sabana in Bogotá.

The focus of her research is on the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying learning and memory processes. She studied possible pharmacological treatments for the compensation of memory loss.

Her current work focuses on the study of the effects of caloric restriction (CR) in aged rats in order to reduce cognitive deficits related to aging, She is also interested in investigating the neurophysiological mechanisms underlying the potential beneficial effect of CR by analyzing neurogenesis and expression of glutamate receptors in the hippocampus and other related synaptic plasticity proteins.
