Joaquim Hernández is a Post-Doc in the Department of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology at Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona (UAB). He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona in 1991 and received his PhD in Biology from Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona in 1998.

He went to London for a postdoctoral stage at National Blood Service and University College of London (Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Research) in the period 2003-2007. There, He focused in the study of stem cells in central nervous system and haematopoietic model.  After this period, he moved in 2009 to his actual position in the Neuroplasticity and Regeneration Group (UAB) to work in cell therapy in spinal cord injury. He has contributed to more than 25 articles and to 1 book chapter.
