Women: invisible in medicine

Women: invisible in medicine

Women and their health have been invisible in the medical field throughout history and still are today. Dr. Carme Valls-Llobet will describe this invisibility in a talk at the School of Medicine on March 12th at 12.00 PM. The conference has been organized by the School of Medicine and the Institut, and will be in Catalan.

02/03/2021

Dr. Carme Valls-Llobet is an endocrinologist. She has been a pioneer in researching and disseminating the exclusion of the female gender in basic research and clinical trials. She has also been committed to raising awareness of the deep gender bias existing in health care and medical studies.

In this conference, Dr. Valls-Llobet will document the advances, setbacks and pending issues in the study and treatment of female diseases, dispel misogynistic stereotypes and myths in medicine, and discuss solutions to improve the quality of life of women.

Seating capacity is limited, and it will be filled on a first-come first-served basis. Please book your seat by sending an email to comunicacio.inc@uab.cat. To follow the conference by streaming, use this link.
